Miss Yogita Gurung's official tour of
the Philippines
Miss Yogita Gurung, eldest daughter of Capt(Retd) Hom Bahadur Gurung,
is in the Philippines in the capacity as a Technology Service Centre
Engineer, Western Union International from the 5th of April
until the end of this month (August 2008) training Western Union staff
there. She was especially selected from Australia to go to the
Philippines to do such an important and remarkable job. The Webmaster
having heard the news thought that this news deserved a special
mention in the Tamagi website, and therefore wrote to her, hoping this
news would inspire a lot of our up-and-coming young stars! Her reply
is repeated below:
”I am happy to share my experience with all Tamagians.
I have been in the Philippines since 5th of April this year. I will
be staying here until the end of August, which may get extended if
required.
Western Union is growing globally. With the growing needs to support
our customers and agents, a new team has been established in our
Philippine office. Apart from Philippines, we have main offices in
various different countries such as Costa Rica, Ireland, Hong Kong,
Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China, Australia, New Zealand etc.
The new team will be supporting the Technology side of Western Union.
As I have been working in this role for the last 2 years in Australia,
the Company provided me with this opportunity to come down to
Philippines and train the new team. For the past 4 months, I have
been involved in setting up the team, training and supporting them.
The new team is known as Technology Service Centre, which supports
both internal and external customers of Western Union. This role
involves an Engineer to support on any technical issues ranging from
a System error to the Network connectivity of Western Union as well as
our agents. Agents are those who provide Western Union services such
as Travelex, Post Offices, Banks, and currency Exchange/Remittances
that you would see everywhere.
It
has been a very good experience for me to work in an international
environment, meeting new people, learning more new things. It has also
given me an opportunity to learn about another country's language,
culture and tradition.
Apart from work, I have taken the opportunity to go around Philippines
and explore its beauty. I have attached few pictures of the places I
have been to, and seen some beautiful places. Philippines are full of
many islands with beaches. Famous beaches being Boracay - a famous
tourist destination, Bohol and many others that I still have to visit.
Hopefully this will encourage and motivate our new generation to
continue with their education. One important thing that I have
learned from this is that with Education and right attitude, you will
go everywhere. Nothing is impossible!
Please pass on my regards to everyone.” |
